Sony and Their Great Success

Sony is one of the worlds leading electronics and video game companies in the industry today. For decades Sony has dedicated a lot of its time, effort and money to bring nothing but the best from the best to us users alike. Sony Corporation a Japanese company with its headquarters located in Minato, Tokyo, Japan is the worlds fifth largest media conglomerate, which is described as a company that owns other large and huge companies in a variety of segments like the mass media involved with television, radio, publishing, movies and the internet.

Sony was founded by Akio Morita and Masaru Ibuka in May 7, 1946. Sometime around the late 1945, after the end of World War II, Masaru Ibuka started a radio repair shop in a department store building that was damaged from the bombings in Nihonbashi in Tokyo. A year later he had the good luck of been joined by his colleague, Akio Morita, where both together founded a company which was named “Tokyo Tsushin Kogyo K.K” which means “Tokyo Telecommunications Engineering Corporation. They were the pioneers in creating the first tape recorder for Japan called the Type-G.

Through its major history and many of its accomplishments, Sony has had the notable history for been able to create its own in-house standards for new recording and storage devices, instead of looking at neighbors for ideas or anything like it from other manufactures.

The name PlayStation was becoming so popular that Sony extended the brand by releasing the PlayStation Portable (PSP) in 2005 followed by the PSP go in 2009. Sony was the pioneer in developing the famous Universal Media Disc (UMD), which was developed for use with the Sony PlayStation portable. Breakthrough was launched in the video games market when Sony released the PlayStation 3, which was a top of the line High Definition console back 2006, later was accompanied by the PlayStation Move, which is an accessory that allows players from all ages to control the latest in video games using motion controllers.

Sony is also a strong leader in the market of laptop computers offering their own line of laptops branded as VAIO. Among many others Sony is also either the owner or directly leading Sony Pictures Entertainment and Sony BMG.
